3 Lifestyle Changes
With the new year approaching quickly, we are all thinking about our new year’s resolutions. According to Nielsen, the top goal is to stay fit and healthy, followed by losing weight. While many people try to start January 1 with their new workout and meal routine, those short-term goals quickly fade, because they are not accurately measuring their results, or become unmotivated. To keep up with new routines, you have to make some lifestyle changes as well. Here are 3 easy lifestyle changes you can make right now, to ensure that your new year’s resolutions make it through the entire year.
1. Sleep more.
Eight to nine hours of sleep per day is not relevant to your health, it is the quality of sleep that matters. Make sure to go to bed at a reasonable time and meditate for a few minutes before falling asleep. This will help you clear your mind and enter REM sleep for better recovery.
2. Drink at least a gallon of water a day
Your body is made up of more than 50% water, so it needs a lot of water to sustain itself. Make sure you hydrate even more than you think you need to. Your body is constantly in need of more fluids. If you aren’t able to hydrate your body enough in whole foods, make sure you drink at least 1 gallon of water per day.
3. Keep stress at a minimum
Obviously, this is easier said than done, but prolonged periods of stress cause adrenal fatigue which causes the metabolism to slow down. This affects the way your body processes carbs, proteins and fats, which compromises weight loss.
