How to Stay Healthy On the Go
We live in a fast paced society with busy schedules. Even though priorities may shift on a daily basis, that doesn’t mean that your commitment to a healthy lifestyle has to suffer.
It Starts in the Kitchen
The first thing you should do is clear all the junk food from your fridge. If you only have healthy food on hand, it will be your only option to reach for in a moment of haste. For those of you with children or spouses that will not reason with you on eating healthy, try purchasing items that they love but you have no desire to eat. Another great way to trick yourself into craving more fruits and veggies is to keep them at eye level. Keeping a bowl of ripe fruit on your counter will leave your mouth watering for a juicy red apple more often than not.
Staying On the Go Ready
One of the best ways to eat healthy when you’re on the go is to make sure you always have healthy options to choose from. The time you spend meal prepping a few hours a week will save you in the long run. Sort out small portions of healthy snacks into containers or baggies so that you can grab them on your way out the door. Speaking of leaving in a hurry, make sure you always have exercise attire and shoes with you in the car. You never know when you’ll have an extra half hour to take a brisk walk in between delayed appointments.
Quick Prep
At the end of a long day, you may be tempted to grab fast food on the way home in order to avoid having to cook. You can avoid this temptation by having a few go-to meals that are quick and nutritious. There are plenty of healthy meals that take less than 5 minutes to prepare, and that’s even quicker than the fast food drive thru.
Keep your workouts on your calendar
If you truly want to stay committed to an exercise program, then you have to stay faithful to yourself. Make exercising an appointment, a commitment that can’t be broken, much like a doctor’s appointment or meeting at work. Whether that means making it an appointment in your planner or calling on a friend, it’s important that you’re dedicated to your success.
